Soft Washing Vs. Pressure Washing

Soft Washing Vs. Pressure Washing

How something is washed is critical to getting the job done, especially when it impacts the final results. There are two methods we use at Brookswood Power Washing, pressure washing and soft washing, and what we use depends on the project at hand.

When choosing the appropriate cleaning method, we look at what we’re cleaning, and what we’re cleaning off that surface.

Soft washing, also known as detergent cleaning, is a process best used for cleaning sensitive materials, clearing stubborn stains, or loosening hard-to-remove blemishes. For example,  detergent cleaning is perfect for removing corrosion on cement, mildew off of vinyl siding, or freshening up your roof.

This practice is fast and effective, but it can also have negative effects such as harming organic matter around the area, dulling paint, or etching glass. It’s best to consult a professional when considering detergent cleaning for your job.

Pressure washing, on the other hand, is exactly what it sounds like: using high pressured water expulsion to clean durable materials and surfaces. ‘Durable’ is the key word here; while pressure washing can remove muck, dirt, or other difficult materials with ease, it can also cause damage if used incorrectly or on the wrong surfaces. For example, we recommend pressure washing your patio or for stripping a metal surface that’s going to be painted, not cleaning your new new front door.

Either way, a professional will clean the surface properly, safely, and without damage.
